Use an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to protect against power outages, brownouts and surges. Adverse electrical conditions can make equipment fail – monitors may flicker and die, and hard drives can crash with no chance of recovery. If you leave your system on all the time, shut your monitor off at night. When the option is available and is configured correctly, most new systems will shut down the monitor for you automatically.
